Boda boda riders in Mbale town have defied the preventive measures of Covid-19 as they were killing a suspected boda boda thief.

There was tension in Mbale yesterday when a suspected thief, was beaten and burnt to death.

Boda boda riders accused him for attempted theft of a boda boda near Mbale main market.

“His 40days expired ” says a boda boda rider.

He was noticed and immediately caught as he tried to seek refugee by running away.

The police station and barracks which is a few meters turned up late, when he was already dead.

The body of the deceased was taken to Mbale Hospital Mortuary, for the post mortem report.

Police is still investigating the culprits who caused the death.

Mbale boda boda riders gathered in big numbers without wearing face masks, and not observing social distance, which guidelines passed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This has come just a few days when the Health minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng also mobilised a political rally in Lira without considering the recommended preventive measures to Covid-19.
