Breaking News: Fatal Bus Crash in Koboko Leaves One Dead, Driver on the Run

Koboko, Uganda – A tragic road accident occurred on March 28, 2025, when a bus registered as UAB 684T, operated by Devine Bus Company, overturned in Koboko CPS jurisdiction, resulting in the death of one passenger.

 Territorial police are now actively searching for the driver, who fled the scene following the crash.

 The bus was traveling from Arua City to Adjumani with passengers on board when the incident happened.

According to reports from the Territorial Police of Koboko CPS, the accident took place at Boyo on a slope, where the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

 The bus struck a pavement and overturned, injuring multiple occupants. 

Among the passengers was 70-year-old Deru Mazini, a resident of Origini Village, Keyi Sub-County in Yumbi District, who died at the scene. His body has been transported to Koboko Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The exact number of victims remains unclear, though several injured passengers were rushed to Koboko Hospital for medical treatment. 

The police traffic team, led by the District Police Commander (DPC) of Koboko, visited the site, where the wrecked bus remains pending removal by a heavy breakdown vehicle to Koboko CPS. 

Efforts are ongoing to identify the full particulars of the victims involved in the crash.

Police spokesperson for West Nile SP Asea Collins,  stated that inquiries are underway to determine the cause of the accident, with more details expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.

 Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance in locating the fugitive driver, urging community members to provide any information that could help bring him to justice. 

The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring the driver faces legal consequences for the incident.
