Renowned Ugandan businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has been honored by the Indian community in Uganda for his exceptional business achievements and his significant role in job creation. The recognition was conferred during a high-profile business forum at the Golf Course Hotel in Kampala, which gathered leading entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to discuss strategies for economic growth and transformation in Uganda.
The event, organized by the Indian business community in collaboration with key private sector stakeholders, was themed “Fostering Investment and Economic Growth Through Business Partnerships.” The forum served as a platform to strengthen economic ties between Indian entrepreneurs and Uganda, while also exploring new opportunities for sustainable development.
Prominent dignitaries, including Hon. Evelyn Anite, the Minister of State for Investment and Privatization, graced the occasion. In her address, Hon. Anite commended Dr. Sudhir and the Indian community for their unwavering commitment to Uganda’s economic progress. She highlighted the importance of foreign investment in job creation and applauded Indian investors for reinvesting in Uganda rather than repatriating profits, a practice seen in some other countries.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Sudhir expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a significant milestone in his career. He praised the Indian business community for their enduring contributions to Uganda’s economic landscape and underscored the importance of continuous investment, innovation, and collaboration in driving the country’s development.
Dr. Sudhir also took a moment to pay tribute to the late Aga Khan, offering condolences to his family and friends for their loss, showcasing his compassion and respect for the wider community.
The forum was not only a celebration of business success but also a space for networking, knowledge sharing, and meaningful policy discussions. Participants explored ways to improve Uganda’s business environment, attract more investments, and create opportunities for employment.
The event concluded with renewed commitments from business leaders and policymakers to foster partnerships that would accelerate investment, generate jobs, and propel Uganda toward sustained economic growth.
Dr. Sudhir’s recognition and the broader discussions at the forum underscored the pivotal role of the private sector in transforming Uganda’s economy and highlighted the value of strong international business partnerships.
