Hon. David Kabanda optimistic about Gen. MK’s 2026 presidential bid

Hon. David Kabanda, the Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), has expressed strong optimism that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba will contest in the 2026 presidential elections. Kabanda’s remarks come at a time when discussions about the future of Uganda’s leadership are gaining momentum, particularly around the potential candidacy of Gen. Muhoozi, who has been a prominent figure in the country’s military and political landscape.

Kabanda, known for his unwavering support for Gen. Muhoozi, stated that the general’s leadership qualities and vision for Uganda make him the ideal candidate to lead the nation into the future. “Gen. Muhoozi has demonstrated exceptional leadership both in the military and through his engagements with the youth. He embodies the spirit of patriotism and has the vision to take Uganda to greater heights,” Kabanda said during a recent PLU gathering.

The PLU, a political organization that has increasingly aligned itself with the ideology of youth empowerment and national development, views Gen. Muhoozi as the leader who can bridge the generational gap and bring new energy to Uganda’s political arena. Kabanda emphasized that the general’s candidacy would resonate with the youth, who make up a significant portion of Uganda’s population, and are eager for a leader who understands their aspirations.

“Uganda is at a crossroads where we need a leader who can connect with the younger generation while maintaining the stability and progress that our country has achieved over the years. Gen. Muhoozi is that leader. He is the embodiment of continuity and change,” Kabanda added.

Over the past few years, Gen. Muhoozi has become increasingly visible in Uganda’s political discourse, often using social media to communicate his thoughts on national and international issues. This has fueled speculation about his political ambitions, with many supporters, including Kabanda, urging him to run for the highest office in the land.

Kabanda’s confidence in Gen. Muhoozi’s potential candidacy is shared by many within the PLU and beyond. The Secretary General believes that with the right support, Gen. Muhoozi could usher in a new era of leadership in Uganda, one that is more attuned to the needs of the youth and focused on sustainable development.

“We are not just talking about a mere possibility; we are talking about a real chance to redefine Uganda’s future. The 2026 elections could be a turning point, and we are ready to rally behind Gen. Muhoozi should he choose to run,” Kabanda affirmed.

As the 2026 elections approach, the political landscape in Uganda is expected to be dynamic, with many eyes on Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Kabanda and the Patriotic League of Uganda remain hopeful that he will heed the calls from his supporters and make a bid for the presidency, setting the stage for a potentially historic election.

For now, Hon. David Kabanda continues to run the PLU with a clear vision and a strong belief that Uganda’s future leadership lies in the hands of a new generation, with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba at the helm.
