Masaza Cup 2026: Mawokota to Face-Off with Kyaggwe, Gomba and Others in MASENGERE Group as Official Dates Are Announced for the Famous Buganda Annual Tournament.

The stage is officially set for the 2026 Airtel-Buganda Masaza Cup following the release of group stage draws and confirmation of tournament dates for the Kingdom’s most celebrated football competition.

According to the official draws, Mawokota has been placed in the competitive Masengere Group alongside Kyaggwe, Gomba, Busiro, Bulemeezi, and Ssese, setting up exciting encounters ahead of the 2026 edition of the prestigious tournament.

Defending champions Buweekula headline the Muganzirwazza Group together with Buvuma, Buddu, Kyaddondo, Busujju, and Buluuli, while the Bulange Group consists of Ssingo, Mawogola, Butambala, Kabula, Kooki, and Bugerere.

Speaking during a delegates’ conference today, Buganda Kingdom Minsister of Youth, Sports and the Arts Oweek Robert Sserwanga confirmed that the tournament will officially be launched on 10th June 2026, with the opening match scheduled for Saturday, 13th June 2026.

Defending champions Buweekula will host the opening fixture at the NTC Grounds in Mubende.

The Masaza Cup annual tournament continues to unite communities across Buganda Kingdom’s 18 counties through sports, culture, and talent development.

The 2026 edition will run until the grand finale slated for 31st October 2026.Football fans across Buganda are now eagerly awaiting kick-off, with attention already turning to the highly anticipated clashes in the Masengere Group where where 3-times champions Mawokota will battle regional rivals and record champions Gomba and 2024 losing finalists Kyaggwe in what promises to be the most competitive groups of the tournament.
