Personality of the Day: Meet Mr Kaweesa Jonathan Mpigi District Agriculture Officer (Rtd)

Mr Kaweesa Jonathan also commonly known as Kaweesa Jonathan Ssempala Ndigejjaddi is now a retired Senior agriculture officer of Mpigi district. #WhisperEyeNews

He was born on 23 April 1963 at Kibiri village, Busabala in Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso District.

He graduated with Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Makerere University.

Immediately after his graduation Mr Kaweesa was posted at Kawanda Research Station, Namulonge where he gained experience in agriculture.

In 2002, Kaweesa was recruited in Mpigi district (Mpigi, Gomba, Butambala) as an Agricultural Officer. He served as an Agriculture Officer in charge of Agricultural Demonstration Center (ADC).

According to Mpigi District Production officer Mr Kaweesa has been a strong pillar in developing the ADC to it’s current status.

At the ADC, Mr Kaweesa become one of the most experienced agriculture officers in the district and the entire region.

Mr Kaweesa could easily tell the type of a pest that destroyed a crop by just observing the damage, as junior government officers narrates.

In 2010, after the creation of Gomba and Butambala districts from Mpigi, Mr Kaweesa remained in Mpigi serving as an Agriculture Officer.

In 2015, Mr Kaweesa was promoted to Senior Agriculture Officer in charge of all sub County agriculture officers which role he has performed to maximum, mentoring a number of junior government officers.

Mr Kaweesa has represented Mpigi district on foreign assignments in various countries, including Rwanda, and South Korea.

Kaweesa a renown experienced, hardworking, and team player senior agriculturist whose services Mpigi district will miss in his retirement.
