Uganda president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni meets his Tanzania counterpart John Pombe Magufuli while wearing a face mask as one of the recommended measures to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.
“Held a meeting today with His Excellency John Pombe Magufuli in Chato, Tanzania, where we discussed a number of issues of bilateral interest to our countries,” says President Museveni.
The two presidents have discussed issues about Oil project between the two countries.
“Importantly, we discussed issues around the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. It was a follow-up meeting after Uganda signed the Host Government Agreement with Total recently,” says Mr Museveni.
“In principle, we agreed that our governments expedite the harmonization of pending issues in the spirit of the East African Community (EAC), the remaining agreements be fast-tracked including the Tanzanian HGA and we quickly carry out the implementation of EACOP project,” he added.
Mr Museveni has praised President Magufuli for a recommendable coordination towards the development of the East African region.
“I thank His Excellency Magufuli and the Tanzanians for the cordial reception to my entourage and myself,” President Museveni said.
Tanzania President Magufuli is popularly known for opposing Covid-19 and refused to put his country under a lock down.
