Big Story: MP Betty Nambooze join Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform party. Whisper Eye Reports.

Mukono municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke has joined MP Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu new political party The National Unity Platform (NUP).

The legislator who is also the Democratic Party (DP) vice president in Buganda region made the decision today with her confidants.

According to Namugera Robert a personal assistant to Hon Nambooze, has printed posters of the Mukono Kingpin with the symbol of an umbrella, which belongs to NUP.

A reliable source close to Mukono municipality legislator has told Whisper Eye that among other reasons MP Nambooze was fought directly by DP party leaders, deliberately denying her a party card without following the party constitution.

“I’m ready to represent my Party; DP but it is not possible. According to the situation here top leaders of the party have not respected the decision of Mukono branch leaders,” says MP Nambooze.

“We as leaders of DP who have been mistreated by Mr Mao and his allies, ready to make a decision and have one symbol”, she added.

DP president Norbert Mao and Ag Secretary general Dr Siranda Gerald Blacks are backing Mukono municipality mayor Kagimu Fred for the MP seat.

However Dr Siranda Gerald told Whisper Eye that they will not tolerate to all party members who are not royal to the Party.

He added that Hon Nambooze is a minister in Peoples Government lead by Dr Kiiza Besigye despite having a party card.
