As thousands are dying, hundreds of thousands more getting ill from the previously underestimated and unknown COVID-19 before appearing in the Wuhan in December 2019.

Since then, life styles have changed for millions others who haven’t yet contracted this deadly Pandemic.

As transport network, businesses and industries remain closed, there has been a drastic drop in Carbondale emissions. The levels of pollution globally has reduced. For instance in the New York pollution levels reduced by almost 50% .

In China it was noticed that the emissions fell by over 23% at the beginning of this year 2020, as factories were shuttered, the use of coal to produce energy for running powerful industries have also reduced by over 40% at China’s sixth largest power plant since the last quarter of 2019.

In Europe, satellites images shows nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions disappearing over the northern Italy and a similar senerio is taking place in Spain and UK.

The COVID-19 pandemic has really crippled lives of many elderlies, brought widespread of Jobs losses and threatened lives of millions and businesses are struggling to cope with the restrictions being put in place to control the Pandemic.

Economic activities have stalled and stock markets have tumbled alongside the falling carbon dioxide emissions . Is this just a fleeting change or could lead to a long lasting fall in the emissions?
