Democratic Party (DP) president, also former L.C V Nobert Mao has declared to stand for Uganda’s presidency in 2021 general elections.

Mr Mao popularly konow as Chairman Mao, in February 2019, gave opposition leaders seven months, to decide on a joint opposition candidate by September, 2019.

Chairman Mao said that if opposition leaders fail to agree on the joint opposition candidate he (Mao) will contest with president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Last month, sources intimate to Whisper Eye told us that Northern region Kingpin had made a decision to take on Mr Museveni after opposition leaders failed to reach on agreement.

Chairman Mao confirmed the rumors circulating, that he has prepared him self enough to run for presidency in 2021.

‘I will be running for President in the next general elections,’ Chairman Mao states.’

“We have candidates who don’t want to negotiate.

They say you are too weak, you must rally behind me.

There is need for all actors to respect each other, he explained.”

Norbert Mao, from 1992 until 1994 worked as an associate attorney in the offices of Kabugo and Company Advocates, a Kampala-based law firm.

Between 1994 and 1996, he worked as a legal counsel for the Legal Aid Project of the Uganda Law Society in their Gulu office.

In 1996, he was elected to the Parliament of Uganda, representing Gulu Municipality.

While in parliament, he served on the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and the Public Accounts Committee.

He resigned from Parliament in 2006 and was elected chairman of Gulu District, where he served for one term.

He has been president of Uganda’s oldest political party DP since 2010.

Kampala based suave politician was born on 12 March 1967(aged 53) and graduated in Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University.
