Breaking News : Justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo appointed Chief Justice. Whisper Eye Reports
Whisper Eye has learnt that Uganda’s President Mr Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo the Chief Justice, replacing Justice Bart Katureebe.
Justice Katurewbe reached mandatory age limit of 70 years about two months ago and resigned.
Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo was the deputy Chief Justice, and appointed Ag Chief Justice immediately after the resignation of Justice Katureebe.
Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo has served as the Acting Chief Justice of Uganda, since 22 June 2020 and was a deputy Chief Justice from 30 September 2017.
He was appointed to that position in August 2017, replacing Steven Kavuma, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 70 years, on 29 September 2017.
The president also has appointed Justice Richard Butera as the Deputy Chief Justice.
Now the two, are awaiting for approval of the appointments committee to kick start their new responsibilities.
