The High Court at Masaka has dismissed an application by Tumwebaze Jet John Ndamagi seeking to disqualify Hon. Aine Godfrey Kaguta (Sodo)’s lawyers, Arcadia Advocates and Paul Kuteesa, from the Mawogola North election petition.
Justice Ocaya Thomas found Jet’s claims of a hidden lawyer-client relationship unsupported by evidence as there was no engagement letter, no call logs, no witnesses, and contradictions in Jet’s own affidavits.
The judge also noted that Jet sat on the alleged conflict for nearly 5 months before raising it, just a day before the pre-hearing session; undercutting his own case.
Additionally; Jet John had requested that he represents himself which was challenged by Hon. Sodo Kaguta’s lawyers. The Judge has directed that Hon. Sodo’s lawyers file an application in writing challenging this by Thursday 24th September and the hearing for this application on Tuesday 29th September, 2026.
In a nut shell, Jet’s application was dismissed with no costs while Hon. Sodo’s legal team remains fully intact as the main election petition proceeds.
