Hajji Kawalya Abubaker Speaks Out on Justice and Service Delivery as He Begins Second Term for Rubaga North.
Rubaga North Member of Parliament, Hon. Kawalya Abubaker, has called on propagandists and political opponents to tame their actions and allow leaders to focus on service delivery following the 2026 general elections.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Namungoona Orthodox Church, Kawalya thanked the people of Rubaga North, the National Unity Platform (NUP), and Almighty God for guiding him through what he described as a challenging electoral period marked by intimidation and irregularities.
Kawalya, who served in the 11th Parliament as Shadow Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs and later as Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Public Accounts (Local Government), said his second term will focus on improving service delivery, especially in roads, health, and community development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to justice, the rule of law, and people-centered leadership. He also stated that he would continue raising the banner of NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, whom he referred to as the rightful winner of the recently concluded elections.
The event attracted several leaders and supporters, including Members of Parliament Nassolo Eugenia (Rubaga South), Ssekitooleko Robert (Bamunanika County), Muwada Nkunyingi (Kyaddondo East), Hassan Kirumira Lukalidde (Katikamu South), and Zahara Luyirika Maala (Makindye West).
Former Nakawa East MP Balimwezo Ronald Nsubuga, who is set to be sworn in as Kampala Lord Mayor for the 2026-2031 term, also attended.
Other guests included outgoing Bukomansimbi South MP Geoffrey Kayemba Solo, Oweek Israel Kazibwe Kitooke the Buganda Minister of Information, Mobilization and Kingdom Spokesperson, Rubaga Division Mayor Mberaze Zacchy Mawula, Bobi Wine brother and former Kawempe South MP contestant Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, Hon. Betty Ethel Naluyima (Wakiso District Woman MP), councillors, Buganda Kingdom officials, religious leaders, and residents from the Constituency’s five electoral parishes of Kasubi, Lubya, Nakulabye, Lungujja, and Namirembe-Bakuli.
Guest speakers described Kawalya as a man of action, a people-centered leader, and a result-oriented legislator.
They praised his commitment to accountability, transparency, and standing with the people during difficult times, expressing confidence that his second term would bring greater transformation to Rubaga North.
The colorful event was also entertained by musicians and comedians including Kazibwe Kapo, Mikie Wine, Daxx Vibes, Maulana and Reign, Yung Mulo, and several upcoming artists.
During his remarks, Kawalya highlighted human rights concerns, including the case of NUP Deputy Spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, who reportedly lost his wife while in detention and was allegedly denied permission to attend her burial, and also referenced the mysterious death of Hellen Nakimuli, thus calling for fair treatment, justice and accountability.
Beyond politics, Kawalya is recognized within Buganda Kingdom sports circles as chairman of the Nseenene Clan football team.
As the celebrations continued, supporters described him as a resilient leader committed to defending the interests of the people and promoting accountable leadership in Rubaga North and beyond.
