Suspected thieves Abandon Vehicle with Stolen Livestock in Arua

Authorities in Arua City have launched a security operation following the discovery of an abandoned vehicle containing suspected stolen livestock in Jokiva Cell, Onzivu Ward, Ayivu East Division.

The incident, reported on May 16, 2025, prompted a rapid response from Muni University Police Station.

At approximately 08:00 hours on May 17, security personnel, under the command of the Station Officer-in-Charge, responded to actionable intelligence and secured the scene near Spring/Valley of Assa.

Operatives recovered a vehicle, registration UBD291J, with a deflated tire, alongside two bulls classified as suspected stolen property (Ref: SD:05/17/05/2025).

The recovered assets have been logged under CRB No. 089/2025 at Ayivu East Police Division.

West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea confirmed the breach in a press statement, noting that the bulls were found offloaded, concealed under a black tarp, and abandoned roadside.

He added that no identification documents were found in the vehicle, complicating efforts to trace its owner.

” The vehicle registration UBD291 J had a flat tyre, suggesting possible theft frustration leading to abandondement, No documents were found in the vehicle, preventing immediate identification of the owner” Asea stated.

No suspects have been apprehended, as the ownership of the recovered livestock remains unverified.

The bulls are currently secured at Muni Farm, with the vehicle impounded for further forensic analysis.

Security forces are actively pursuing leads to identify the vehicle’s owner and apprehend the perpetrators.

SP Asea emphasized ongoing investigations and appealed for public cooperation, urging anyone with relevant information to contact authorities.

The Uganda Police Force remains committed to neutralizing livestock theft syndicates in the region and will provide updates as the operation progresses.

Community vigilance has been instrumental, and residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities to bolster regional security.
