Alur Kingdom appoints Renown Journalist Rupiny Communication Director

The King of Alur Kingdom His Royal Highness Ubimu  Phillip Olarker Rauni III, has  appointed a renown former Radio Paidha FM and URN Journalist David Rupiny as a director communication/spokesperson in the Kingdom.

Rupiny worked as station manager/news editor Radio Paidha in Zombo district, Open Radio Rainbow in Nebbi, worked with URN including other media houses before  joining  Uganda Investment Authority as communication manager, a position he still holds.

King Olarker Rauni III also appointed counsel Richard Adubango Olama as the Antony General of Alur Kingdom respectively.

This development was announced in a press statement on October  24,  signed by the kingdom’s minister of general duties Emilio Odongo.

“This is to inform the general public and the subjects of of HRM Olarker Phillip Rauni III that the following persons have been appointed to serve the Kingdom in the capacities detailed below.

1. Antony General Counsel Adubango Richard Olama.

2. Director Communication/ spokesperson; Mr. David Rupiny.” The statement reads in part.

Last year,  King Rauni III appointed his cabinet members and royal envoys to various cultural institutions in Uganda, and foreign world with hope of lobbying for the subjects. The appointment saw a number of old members reshuffled.

The appointment of Rupiny and Olama comes at a time when the Kingdom has just completed sports activities of bicycle race and football in partnership with MTN and the subjects are eagerly expecting celebration of this year anniversary of King Rauni III.

The celebrations are held annually on rotational basis.

During unveiling and commissioning of these members at the palace in Atyak sub-county, the King pronounced that they will serve for a 10 year tenure beginning last year.

He observed that they will focuse on six pillar including protection of land, conservation of environment, education, commercial agriculture among others.

The cabinet members are; prime minister Prince Lawrence Opar Angala, Vincent Ochaya Orach executive director, Michael Anewa minister of finance and planning, Colleens Pimer minister of gender, John Pascal Wapokurwa land and production minister,Dr.  Amos Nyathirombo minister of health and Sam Kumakech minister for  sports Bob Opio minister of for culture and legal affairs, Juliet Umika minister for tourism, Steven Cwinyai minister minister for security and Emilio Odongo minister for general duties.

But the position of director of communication didn’t exist in the last year list.

In a telephone interview,   David Rupiny welcomed the appointment saying “I am humbled and honoured that the King of Alur, His Royal Majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III, has appointed me as the Director of Communications as well as the Spokesperson of Alur Kingdom. I don’t take it for granted. The responsibilities and tasks are huge but surmountable. Together, we should ensure that we have in place a robust communications system for the Kingdom. The first 100 days should see some visible structures and activities, not least a working communications and stakeholder engagement strategy that will spell out the key things we shall be focusing on”

David Sabbiti , one of the subjects have congratulated Olama and Rupiny for their appointment, believing that they will deliver to the expectations of the King and the subjects.
