Nakaseke District’s 2021 Woman MP candidate Esther Nakawooya has continued showcasing her unwavering dedication and boundless compassion for the untapped potential of Nakaseke’s youth, particularly in the realm of sports.
With a fervent desire to nurture this potential and provide a platform for budding talents to thrive, she embarked on a remarkable endeavor — “Esther Nakwooya Easter Cup” which attracted participation of different teams in Kikamulo Sub county.
The finals were kicked off amidst cheers and applause, and according to many, the tournament was more than just a sporting event, signifying a celebration of the boundless potential that lay within Nakaseke’s youth, waiting to be unleashed. The entire game was characterized by free-flow ball playing tactics. Each team’s spirits were buoyed by the promise of friendly competition and the opportunity to showcase skills.
As the final whistle blew, Esther Nakawooya stepped onto the field to congratulate the victorious team, Kamuli FC who defeated Butiikwa FC 1:0 and were crowned champions. The champions walked away with a trophy, goat, gold medals, balls and a playing jersey.
Through her generous donations, Butiikwa FC who emerged runners-up in the tournament also walked away with a goat, silver medals, balls and a playing jersey. She also provided footballs and jerseys to several teams including Magoma, Lumpewe, Kikamulo and others. playing field and instilling a sense of pride and unity among the players.
While addressing the crowd, Nakawooya emphasized her commitment towards sports and talent development. “No dream is too big and no obstacle too great—when we have a community rallying behind them, and a champion in their corner. And as we look towards the future, I pledge utmost support and an advocacy role towards approaches aiming at identifying and nurturing young talents in Nakaseke district.”
