Crisis Engulf Team Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Camp

A serious crisis engulfed the Camp of “Team MK” in Zombo district as doubt has emerged in the community about the mode of their operation.

Team MK Project was launched early this year in Uganda to have a peaceful transition of power from Gen. Museveni Kaguta to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is the first son.

Recently a number of people have been in the spotlight over extortions in the name of registering people into the MK project in Zombo district, others have been arrested, cautioned and released.

The whole crisis and controversy came public this week when ambassador Team MK project West Nile region Steven Okwaimungu announced that he had sacked Henry Uwinji, the head of mobilization Team Mk in Zombo district.

In an interview with whispereye news journalist,  Steven Okwaimungu revealed that Henry Uwinji is using his attachment to the Team MK project for extorting, intimidating and harassing local citizens with the name of the MK army. And that this is jeopardizing the intention of the project.

“Whatever, Uwinji is doing is not as Muhoozi Kainerugaba but is his own as an individual. Where he makes a crime the law will take its course. I have stopped him; I work under Toyota Kaguta.” Okwaimungu explained

Okwaimugu added that, mid this year, Uwinji under his watch allowed a group of scrupulous people to extort money from the poor locals under disguise of registering them into Team MK in the sub-counties of Jangokoro, Zeu, Akaa, Athuma and Padea town council.

The resident district commissioner Zombo Rt Lt Col. Pius Alitema, has acknowledged that he has received the instruction from Team Mk project blocking Uwinji from promoting Mk.

“That’s their arrangement, so we go by what they say. That is the project which they are still trying to promote so it should not be disturbed in early stages.” Rt Lt Col. Alitema commented

Uwinji called the accusation Okwaimungu allayed against him are baseless and not true, adding that he has not received any letter from Central Executive Committee (CEC) MK project stopping him  from carrying out mobilization for MK project in Zombo district.

Uwinji advised the CEC to intervene faster in order to settle differences between him and Okwaimungu.

He says he is continuing with his job as interim Chairman Mobilization Team MK project and urged people to come to the office located in Paidha town council.

“When they were electing us as interim leaders Okwaimungu was not there and I have not received a letter from CEC stopping me.” He says

One of the victims who spoke to this Publication on condition of anonymity revealed that he has been whisked by a team of CMI officials and released from the regional office in Arua city.

The man who is still traumatized over his arrest could not speak about what transpired his arrest by the military men!
