Sad News: Zombo Education Department lost a senior education assistant

Zombo Education Department is mourning the sudden demise of an experienced teacher of Oturgang Boys Primary School identified as Innocent Onyuthi 51, who succumbed to Diabetes at Nyapea Hospital over the weekend.

He was admitted on the 3rd of this month after battling the complication for some time.

The Headteacher of Oturgang Boys Primary School Alex Susu said the deceased was a passionate and hard-working teacher who had left a big staffing gap at the school.

He said the school will not fold its hand in assisting the children of the deceased, one of whom had attained a bursary to study freely after performing well in the recently concluded school examination.

“The passing on of this hard-working teacher is a big loss to us, we only have 23 staff and now are reduced to 22 yet we have over 1900 learners in this school, “Susu told the whispereye news in an interview.

He assured the deceased family that the school will do all that it takes to offer them more support before appealing for joint support from everyone so that the former Primary Two teacher is given a befitting burial on  December 12 2023.

The deceased who was a member of the Paidha Catholic choir worked in the school for over ten years since he was posted to the school from Padea Olyeko Primary School.

George Buatre, The school Director who worked with the deceased for a long described him as a versatile teacher in his execution of duties  ”  whose services will be missed”

Zombo District education department has not more than 150 teachers at the rank of senior education assistant.

The Zombo District acting inspector of school Silvio Jalar has decried the rate at which the education department is losing its teaching and not teaching staff,  before describing the deceased as a hard-working teacher.

He attributed some of the deaths to health-related complications and stress emanating from low pay and domestic pressure from relatives.

He will be laid to rest in his ancestoral village in Akwerali, Asina Parish Abanga Sub-county on December 12. 

Last month, the Zombo  Education Department lost The Headteacher of Oruku Primary School to cardiac arrest and relatedly, The education department early last year lost the headteacher of Aringu Primary School to a health-related complication.
