Over 85% of PDM funds disbursed to the beneficiaries

Story by Chris Woo

Oyam district has given out at least 85% of its PDM funds to the beneficiaries.

This was revealed by William Komakec who is the resident district commissioner of Oyam of the district during a weekly press briefing held at his office yesterday.

According to Komakec out of 7 billion given to Oyam district at least they had disbursed 6,73800,000 meaning they are still left with a balance of 1,88000,000 million shillings unspent as of last week’s report.

Adding that at least two parishes in Oyam district had not yet given out even a single PDM coin to the beneficiaries and these parishes are Juma parish in Kamdini sub-county and Obangangeo parish in Acaba sub county other parishes that were still left with some balances to disburse includes; Acan pii parish in Loro sub-County has given 15% only, Pukica parish 45% and Zambia parish in Kamdini sub county 53%, Amukugungu in Otwal sub-County 58% and Omolo parish in Iceme sub-County has also given out only 59 % as of last week.

Conclusively Komakec also revealed that last week all the Parish development Sacco leaders in Adee parish in Otwal sub-County were arrested after extorting money from PDM beneficiaries however he says all of them were released after refunding the extorted money where he cautioned PDM sacco leaders in all the parishes in Oyam district against such act saying law will not spare them.

The parish development model is a presidential initiative focusing on poverty eradication especially among 30 percent poor and in Oyam district 7 billion shilling was given to benefit this category of people however technical staff are misusing it most especially through extorting the beneficiaries.
