SPA Ruth Katushabe hoots for patriotism among youths at a youth leaders retreat in Kalungu

The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Translations Hon Ruth Katushabe spent the biggest part of Thursday 7th December at St Charles SS Lwanga in Kalungu District where youth leaders with different political affiliations had gathered in a retreat to sharpen their abilities on several issues to enhance their productivity in leadership.

Hon Katushabe was among the keynote speakers who were privileged to speak to the large gathering of thousands of youths from greater Masaka where she highlighted the issue of patriotism among youth leaders if Uganda is to go to the next step.

Hon Katushabe being welcomed at the event

Hon Katushabe said that youth leaders must love their country and always put it first before anything in everything they do. She advised the youth leaders from greater Masaka to always be strategic in whatever they do if they are to change the lives of their people in the area adding that sometimes for an area to gain from the government, it must have sharp workaholic leaders who are always demanding for the needs of their people.

The Senior Presidential Advisor also spread the President’s message of social-economic transformation to the youth leaders saying that the President wants every citizen of this country to be part of the money economy as this is the only realistic way how poverty can be eradicated from homes and families. She advised the youths to join hands with the President by helping him to spread this message to as many people as possible.

“We must all help the President in this fight against poverty. Every family or an individual must join the money economy through production, especially in Agriculture or offering a service where one can earn some money. This is why you should advise your people to take advantage of the prevailing poverty eradication programs like Emyooga, and PDM as the government sets up these initiatives to help them.” She said

The youth leaders retreat was organized by the NRM Secretariate led by Director Mobilization and Publicity Hon Rosemary Ssenimde and launched by Deputy Secretary General Hon Rose Namayanja aimed at shaping and making youths better leaders of today and tomorrow.

The retreat also attracted several leaders like Hon Rose Namayanja the Deputy Secretary General of the NRM, Col Katabazi the ISO boss, Governor Ibrahim Kittata the Lwengo District LCV Chairperson who shared with the youths several career experiences as well as offering words of wisdom that can make them better leaders
