Japyem Joel, a resident of Borowiw village, Ragem upper Parish Ragem sub county Pakwach District has been arrested by Police of Pakwach District, with a Red Bajaj motorcycle with registration number UFX 881F said to have been robbed from a boda boda rider who was murdered two days ago.
The boda boda rider who was reportedly murdered and body dumped in Borowiw village Ragem upper Parish Ragem sub county was a resident of Nebbi Municipality, who on December 5th transported a female passenger in the area. His body was later discovered in the morning of December 6 2023 by locals.
The deceased’s postmortem report was completed in Nebbi General hospital which indicated that the body had multiple cuts on the neck, head, back, chest and the stomach. Part of body was also hit by blunt object police stated.
The westnile regional Police spokesperson SSP Josephine Angucia confirmed the suspect’s arrest after a serious inquest was launched into the matter adding that he is being detained at Pakwach Police Station to aid further investigation.
“The motor cycle with registration number UFX 881F, Bajaj Boxer, Red in Colour which was robbed from the deceased Boda boda rider was recovered from the suspect. Suspect is currently detained at police pending further investigations meanwhile the motorcycle is exhibited” Angucia confirmed in a statement.
However Police has confirmed fresh information about attack of community in Ragem sub county by the relatives of the deceased who are revenging the gruesome murder of their son.
” Today Friday 08 December in the afternoon hours, information reaching police is that relatives of the deceased from Nebbi moved in large number for a revenge attack in the village of the suspect. Pakwach Police moved to the scene to contain the situation.
As inquiries continue with one key suspect already at hand with exhibit, we urge the aggrieved relatives not to take law into their hands but to cooperate with police so that the remaining suspects will be arrested if any, and produced before court for appropriate punishment.” Angucia added in a statement.
