Support Catechists to ease their church duties , says believers in Nebbi Diocese Church of Uganda

By Ofoymungu Lee

Believers in the Diocese of Nebbi church of Uganda have been implored to offer more support and an enabling environment for catechists to ease their church duties and obligations.

The message was sounded on October 21, During the ordination of 36 Church Catechists of Goli central Archdeaconry and Deanery at ATC Pagisi Church of Uganda.

The ordained catechists underwent two years of extensive training in pastoral work and have been dispatched to carry on with evangelization in different churches across the Diocese.

The newly ordained Catechists of Nebbi Diocese

During the church service, Rev Stephen Waningom the parish priest of Jangokoro parish who was the preacher at the ceremony called upon believers to stand in the gap for the new church leaders noting that the work is a sacrifice. He also tasked the ordained  Catechists to work with much zeal putting into account that it’s God’s call.

“Work with Morals, because you’re a servant of God set apart and you’re the soldiers of God. But we’ve reached a time where everyone minds of his stomach and their family but they don’t mind of the servants of God. During COVID-19 all offices were closed but the Catechists were in their different churches. Christians nowadays don’t support men of God, they’re patex ” . Said Rev  Waningom.

The Dean of St Stephen’s Cathedral Goli The Very Rev.Canon Ephraim Jagen also in his short message equally called for much-needed support towards the church catechists who play key roles in steadying the church and promoting the work of God at the grassroots level.

The ordained Catechists in choruses gave their utmost commitment to serving God diligently to hundreds of believers who turned up to witness the event.

Catechists play a pivotal role in the administration of the church at grassroots level, This Publication understands that most Catechists are retiring but those joining the work of God are few.
