“We are a kingdom without power.” Sabasajja Kabaka Mutebi ll

The 31st of July 2023 was the 30th coronation anniversary of HRH Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom which is located in the central part of Uganda.

Thousands gathered to attend this historic moment at the Lubiri Mengo Palace including central government officials and other respected dignitaries from across the country.

The king gave a powerful earthquaking speech where he revealed that even when the Buganda Kingdom was restored in the early 90s by President Museveni following a 27 year ban by Dr Obote, her powers were never returned and thus he is king without power.

The kabaka asked the Central government to fulfill its promises to the kingdom by returning back all what belongs to it. The Kabaka said that the federal system of governance is the right step to take if Uganda is to develop by giving the monarchies powers to rule and Preside over the general administration of their people.

The Kabaka also spoke out and warned his subjects never to be reluctant because there are people who still envy the existence of Buganda Kingdom whom he termed as the enemies of Buganda.

The Kabaka also asked the youths never to abondon the villages or sell off their land because they want to come to the urban centres saying that they should stay put because Buganda is land and if they sell it off, they are selling away their kingdom.
