The LC 5 chairperson of Zombo district James Oruna Oyullu during a council meeting at Zombo district council hall on the 31st of May said this is the second time the name of the chief finance officer is being cited in the mismanagement of funds.

Between 2016 and 2018, he was implicated in a case in which nearly 100 million Ugandan shillings were mismanaged in the district without clear accountability which led to his interdiction. However, he was brought back on the grounds that he pays back the money.

He later embezzled 1.3 million Ugandan shillings which eventually led to the termination of his service according to the document showcased by the District.

The LC 5 chairperson of Zombo district James Oruna Oyullu during the council meeting yesterday disclosed that  Mokili has been reportedly involved in corruption scandals several times which he personally owned up to before the district service commission made the decision to dismiss him without any further Ado.

Oyullu who announced the district resolution before the council notes that the move to terminate the chief finance officer’s service was to signal to other errant staff, the district had zero tolerance for corruption under his leadership.

“I want to inform the council that, the executive has taken the decision of handling the issue very carefully to ensure that such vice shouldn’t continue and the name of the district shouldn’t be tarnished, resources of the district should not be mismanaged. Therefore, we requested that Mokili, the chief finance officer of Zombo district local government be handed over to the district service commission to terminate his service” Oyullu announced.

The inspectorate of government investigation into forgery, non-accountability and misappropriation, and other pending cases of similar nature showed that Mokili had a checkered corruption scandal record since 2018 according to the Zombo District Leadership.

The district councilor of Padea Town Council Douglas Rupiny has recommended that the names of all those involved in corruption be published to serve as a warning to others.

” We have passed a resolution that Mokili be dismissed without any delay, we call upon the district leadership to publish his names together with the names of all those involved in the corruption scandal previously for the public to know” Rupiny stressed during the council meeting.

Francis Bolingo the district councilor of Athuma sub-county said” Am happy of the council of today 31st which ruled out that Mokili should not work in Zombo. We are demanding the Chief administrative officer, the LC5 chairperson to ensure that he pays back our Money”

Deep-throat sources at the district disclosed that another two staff are also being investigated over a corruption scandal and might face an axe momentarily.
