The speaker has directed the Ministries of Tourism together with that Ethics and Integrity to immediately inform the organizers about the decision of parliament on the matter.

As we report, Uganda Police Force has also been informed on the matter so that it stops any further preparations for the festival at the venue with immediate effect.

However the State minister for tourism, Martin Mugarra, says ‘Nyege Nyege’ is a hub of tourism, where over 8,000 foreign tourists had already booked tickets for the event that’s due in Jinja but his opinion was not given an ear with Parliament insisting that the event is immoral.

MP Sarah Opendi said that the event is an incubation hub for promoting security immorality.

Speaker Anita Among said that as a country we are talking about morality of this country, talking about our children yet Nyege Nyege is trying to promote tourism at the expense of our children? He added that as Parliament they are not going to allow this function to take part.

Director Communications and Public Affairs Chris Obore said that Jinja needs industries not nyege nyege with tourism not about one week nyege nyege. He added that Busoga has better tourism sites to be developed than nyege nyege.
