Museveni starts campaigns in Busoga region

The NRM presidential flag bearer, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today 03rd December 2020 kicked off his scientific campaigns in Busoga sub-region with a meeting of party flag bearers from  Bugiri, Namayingo, Bugweri, Namutumba, Iganga and Kaliro.

The President who had earlier commissioned MV Sigulu ferry on Lake Victoria first apologized for not stopping to greet people who had gathered along the roads wherever he passed.

“I am sorry for not stopping to greet my supporters on the way. I could not put their lives at risk. As a President i have all the protection including this mask for medics that I can put on those to stand and wave to people. I would be safe but the people I am waving at will be infecting one another in case one is sick,” Museveni said.

He said that Uganda, unlike many other countries has not lost so many people to the deadly virus because of such measures to prevent the spread.

The NRM presidential flag bearer told the party leaders at a meeting held at Iganga Municipal Primary School grounds in Iganga district that he was happy with the development the country has gone through in the last 34 years.

“As a former rebel and now as the leader of the people,  I am seeing  these areas developing . This place has developed from a former war zone to a developed area. Wherever I go, things are new. The other day I was in Bugisu commissioning the Mbale –Lwakhakha road where we had a fight with Amin people in 1973. All these developments show what commitment means,” Mr Museveni said.

President Museveni told the party leaders that all these developments have been achieved because of wise decisions taken when the NRM took power in 1986.

He explained that the success story of the NRM party should be preached by the NRM leaders so as to guide Ugandans in making wise decisions during the forthcoming election.

“When you go to talk to people, tell them the success we have got is because of this strategic thinking,” he said.

President Museveni had earlier commissioned the 300-seater MV Sigulu ferry, the largest passenger vessel in Uganda that will connect Namayingo mainland to Sigulu and Lolwe islands on Lake Victoria.

The NRM presidential flag bearer will tomorrow continue with his scientific campaigns in Jinja.
