UPC mourns Pastor Yiga and Col Shaban Bantariza

UPC mourns Pastor Yiga and Shaban Bantariza. Whisper Eye Reports

Uganda’s second oldest party UPC joined Ugandans to mourn Revival Christian Church founder Pastor Yiga Augustine and former UPDF General Shaban Bantariza who passed on yesterday.

The Uganda Peoples Congress has learnt about the untimely death of the Deputy Government Executive Director of Media Center and former UPDF Spokesperson Col. Shaban Bantariza which occurred on October 27, 2020. A party statement reads.

In the same vain, the Party sent condolences to the Revival Church, family and friends of late Pr. Yiga Augustine, for the loss of their beloved Pastor that occurred on the same date. A party statement continued to read.

The party went on to send heartfelt condolences to the Nation and family of the death of the senior leaders.

2021 Elections!

In the other news Uganda Peoples Congress also held a post primaries Conference of all members who participated in the Party primaries, Party leaders and Party flag bearers in the entire Lango sub-region where Party harmonization processes were done, at Garden Inn Hotel Lira on Tuesday 27th October 2020.

According to Muzeyi Faizo  the aftermath of Party primaries in 2015 left UPC members divided in some areas, and this cost UPC a number of seats in 2016 general elections as the would be support for the Party flag bearers was shared in-between, thus offering the victory to its opponents in the most regrettable manner!

It is in that sense that the Party thought it wise to hold a post primaries Conference with a sole purpose of reconciliation as well as building solidarity and consolidating our support ahead of 2021 general elections. The Conference was successfully moderated by retired Bishop of West Lango Diocese Rt. Rev. Bishop Alfred Acur and Veteran UPC Chairman Lira District Mzee Julius Peter Obonyo. The Party is very grateful of their timely service. Said Muzeyi Faizo the UPC head of Media and Communication.

The participants applauded the efforts of the Party President Hon. Jimmy Akena, the UPC Secretariat and pledged to work together for victorious 2021 elections.

The UPC  leadership also thanked Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and Interparty Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) for their support that saw it a success.

UPC will not field a party presidential candidate in the coming 2021 elections.
