Kampala Lord Mayor Haji Ssalongo Erias Lukwago and 20-year Kawempe north MP Haji Latif Ssebaggala Ssengendo in talks for one candidate for the post of Kampala Lord Mayor 2021.

Privy sources close to Kisaasi family told Whisper Eye that Muslim clerics summoned Haji Latif Ssebaggala Ssengendo and Haji Erias Lukwago in a closed and secret meeting for talks.

In the meeting, it was resolved that MP Latif must give way to Haji Erias Lukwago who is more stronger to retain the seat on behalf of the Muslim community.

In the meeting, the source revealed further that former Kampala mayor Al-haji Nasser Ssebaggala wanted Lord Mayor Lukwago to support his young brother on arguments that he has served one term as Kampala Central MP, and two terms as the Lord mayor an issues that will affect him facing popular singer Joseph Mayanja popularly known as Dr Jose Chameleone.

Al-haji Nasser Ssebaggala explained to the meeting that due to Mr Mayanja’s popularity, with the new face in politics must be accepted as a challenge to Mr Lukwago who is completing his 10 years as Kampala Lord Mayor.

Pro MP Latif members had suggested that Mr Lukwago should contest for Rubaga south MP seat citing that incumbent MP Kato Lubwama has not performed at all.

They resolved that MP Latif after getting National Unity Platform (NUP) for Kampala Lord Mayoral seat he will drop out for Haji Lukwago who was assessed to have more support than him.

A political analyst names withheld due to security reasons told the congregation to withdraw some Muslim candidates in Kampala saying that they can affect Lukwago’s candidature.

Among the names they agreed upon are Ssemwogerere Ashiraf who made a late entry into Rubaga Division mayoral race.

Inner intelligence intimated to Kamwokya reliably informed us that NUP will front loyal Mberaze Zacchy Mawula for the Rubaga Division mayoral seat.

Kamwokya NUP party officials are wondering why ever since MP Latif made his late nomination for the Lord mayoral seat when he has never made any Kampala political activity.
