Road to 2021: Kayunga Woman MP seat race attracts 20 against Embattled Nantaba Ida

Museveni’s state minister for Information and Communications Technology Ida Erios Nantaba in trouble as her parliamentary seat is in balance as five women have declared their interest to replace her in the forthcoming elections.

Youthful Agatha Nalubwama tops the list of those hunting embattled Minister Nantaba’s Kayunga district woman MP seat.

Ms Nalubwama is a neutral candidate among those from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Kayunga district is divided among two political sides: Minister Nantaba and NRM Chairman Kalangwa Moses.

According to residents of Kayunga district, they are tired of these wars and the now demand a united district.

Basing on all factors, they see a youthful Agatha Nalubwama as the suitable candidate in the race.

Other candidates are Nakwedde Harriet who is the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) who is running for the third time, in 2011, and 2016 she lost to incumbent Nantaba.

Nabukeera Moreen who is a member of Firebase Army, a group linked to Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, a pop music star also known by his stage name Bobi Wine.

Ms Nabukeera is among People Power, Our Power Movement.

She could be a very strong candidate but lacks funds to sustain her campaigns.

And its like People Power Movement top leaders have neglected her.

Others are Nabirye Margerate, Wabuza Lydia who also subscribe to People Power, and one Birungi.

Ms Nalubwama stands for Unity, sustained development, Women and Youth empowerment through Agricultural mechanisation.

Ms Agatha Nalubwama was born on 18 January 1992.

She is a daughter to Mrs Robinah Lubwama, and the late Misusera Lubwama of Ntooke Kayunga. The father died in 2018.

Agatha is a selfless, enterprising, and charismatic Christian community leader.

She studied primary from St. Noah Junior primary school, Zzana.

Then went to Gayaaza High school for both O and A levels.

She joined Makerere University Business School (MUBS) for her Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

She is the founder of Naomi Elderly Outreach Uganda, which organisation has changed lives of people in Kayunga district.
