Big Story: Kasese local artist ‘Kahyana’ jailed for singing out against Chrispus Kiyonga

Big Story: Kasese local artist ‘Kahyana’ jailed for singing out against Chrispus Kiyonga. Whisper Eye Reports.

Kasese renown artist Jolly Kahyana has been detained for one-and-half months for composing and singing a song against NRA historical member Dr Chrispus Kiyonga.

Whisper Eye has learnt that Mr Kahyana was arrested in May, 2020, detained in Mubuku prison and he has been released on court bail after a couple of weeks.

The song is against former Uganda defence minister Kiyonga’s parliamentary bid in 2021.

According to the song, Mr Kahyana asks former defence minister to step down for Atkins Katushabe.

“Dr Kiyonga is fake and doesn’t act an example as an old man giving room for the young leaders,’ says Mr Kahyana in the song.

Mr Kahyana further states; “Thus leaving his job as ambassador of Uganda to China and coming to contest again is unwise”.

Eye witness told us that security operatives both in plain clothes and uniforms arrested the artist and was sent to prison.

” Whatever he (Dr Kiyonga) forgot in Parliament should be Whispered to Katusabe so that he brings it as the deserved MP for Bukonzo West, the song goes.”

Whisper Eye efforts to get a word from Dr Kiyonga was futile.

Dr Chrispus Kiyonga is the only parliamentary candidate of Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) party led by Mr Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who won in 1980 general elections, rigged by Apollo Milton Obote.
