The ‘former’ Malawian President Peter Mutharika who was recently spotted vacating the Sanjika Palace in Blantyre, is reportedly seeking asylum in South Africa.
Prominent journalist, and UN Voices of a Brighter Future Award winner, James Chavula, spotted Mutharika unceremoniously leaving the Palace with no sirens and no police escort.
“There goes Mutharika, the President of Malawi has vacated the Palace… No police escort, no pomp. No impunity.
“Just a man heading wherever he will find peace, knowing his nation has rejected him,” he captioned a video of Mutharika leaving.
Meanwhile, it is being alleged, the outgoing Malawian President is seeking asylum in South Africa.
