Hundreds of taxi passengers stranded in Mukono ,task Mp MP Nambooze for a solution.Whisper Eye Reports.
Today has marked Day-three since president Museveni revised a ban on public transport since March, 2020 through the presidential order stopped taxi.
Many passengers suffered yesterday as Uganda police impounded a number of taxi arguing that they lacked genuine travel documents.
This has not changed today as hundreds of people continue to trek long distances, and others are stranded on various stages.
On Jinja road, passengers have asked Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke to petition Uganda’s parliament to intervene into the matter.
Pastor Mugoya Amos of Living Hope Community Church has told Whisper Eye that its time their MP Nambooze came to their rescue.
“Things are getting tough everyday, I request our area legislator hon Nambooze to petition the Parliament over the transport issue,’ says Pastor Mugoya.
On Jinja road hundreds and hundred of people have been cited on various stages waiting for taxis.
Taxis are the most used public transport that carry 14 people in Uganda, currently due to covid-19, the guidelines indicate that they should carry half capacity .
According to the aide of MP Nambooze , Mr Bob assured us that Madam Teacher will ensure that he petitions the parliament over the matter.
Yesterday many spent the cold night in New taxi park after failing to get public transport and 7:00PM curfew hour clocked.
