Nakawa, Kampala – The political atmosphere in Nakawa West continues to heat up as Ivan Kabedha, a passionate son of the soil, officially picked nomination forms to contest in the upcoming NRM party primaries for the position of Member of Parliament, Nakawa West.
Born on May 11th, 1988, in Banda Zone 2, Ivan Kabedha is the son of the late Mike Kefa Higenyi and Babita Edisa Naigaga. His early childhood was shaped by both opportunity and tragedy. He began school at Waterford Primary School in Nabisunsa, but after the unfortunate death of his father, he relocated with his mother to her village in Luuka District, where he completed his Primary Seven at Kiyunga Primary School.
His educational journey took him through Springdales S.S. in Bugiri for Senior Four, and later Greenhill S.S. Bugiri for Senior Six. With a growing love for service and community development, Ivan pursued a Hotel Management course at Nserestor Business School in Masaka, before enrolling at Kyambogo University where he is pursuing a diploma in Library and Information Science.
Kabedha’s name may not be new to grassroots mobilization circles. Having risen through the ranks of youth leadership, he gained hands-on political experience working alongside prominent figures in Uganda’s political landscape. These experiences sharpened his vision, rooted in humility and people-centered representation.
“I come to this race with no godfathers, but with God the Father,” Kabedha told Whisper Eye. “From Banda to Bukoto, Kiwatule to Kyambogo, I have walked with the people, listened to their struggles, and shared in their hopes. This time, I come not to promise, but to serve—with humility, integrity, and action.”
With his deep roots in Nakawa West and a clear understanding of local challenges, Kabedha says his campaign is focused on real issues that affect the common person—healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and accountable leadership.
He pledges to bring the voice of the waina-inch (common person) to the national table, determined to bridge the gap between the people and Parliament.
As the NRM primaries draw near, Ivan Kabedha is expected to be a key contender in the Nakawa West race, backed by a growing grassroots movement and a relatable personal story.
