Firearm Seized in Moyo District Following Armed Robbery and Homicide

The Uganda Police Force’s Flying Squad Unit successfully mitigated a critical security threat in Moyo District following a violent armed robbery and homicide in Amuru District.
This after a mobile money operator was fatally shot during the robbery, with the perpetrators absconding with an undisclosed sum of currency.
According to SP Collins Asea, West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident was uncovered following confessions from apprehended suspects during interrogation.
“Following a prompt investigation, the Flying Squad conducted extensive inquiries, leading to the arrest of key suspects involved in the incident. During interrogation, the suspects identified their associates, who were believed to be hiding within Moyo District, as well as provided information regarding the location of the firearm and ammunition used during the attack” Asea’s statement reads in part.
He added that , Based on this intelligence, the Moyo District Police Commander (DPC), in collaboration with Flying Squad operatives, executed a precision operation, resulting in the apprehension of additional suspects.
Authorities seized a live AK-47 rifle, one magazine containing three rounds of ammunition, and other relevant evidence.
All detained suspects and recovered items were transferred to Amuru District for further investigation and judicial processing.
