Authorities in Madi-Okollo have issued an urgent manhunt for Matuwa, a suspect accused of fatally assaulting his wife, Ajidiru Agness, in a domestic violence incident fueled by alcohol consumption.
The crime, reported on May 28, 2025, at approximately 7:00 PM, occurred in Ndubu West Cell, Ndubu Ward, Okollo Town Council.
According to police reports, on May 27, 2025, at around 8:00 PM, Matuwa allegedly engaged in a violent altercation with Ajidiru Agness, a 38-year-old housewife.
The following day, the victim was rushed to Blessed Medical Care Clinic, where she succumbed to her injuries.
SP Asea Collins, Police Public Relations Officer for West Nile , confirmed that the suspect remains at large. “Our investigations are ongoing, and we are committed to apprehending the perpetrator,” Collins stated. Police urge the public to provide any information that could lead to Matuwa’s arrest.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to Nebbi Hospital for a postmortem examination.
According to the Uganda Police Force’s 2024 Annual Crime Report, a total of 4,398 murder cases were recorded nationwide, with domestic violence-related homicides accounting for approximately 18% of these incidents. The West Nile region reported 142 murder cases, with ongoing efforts to curb violent crimes through community policing and targeted investigations.
