Hon Erias Luyimbazi Nalukoola has officially been sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North. The ceremony took place at noon in the Speaker’s Chambers, with Speaker Anita Among presiding over the proceedings.
This marks the final step in the electoral process following the by-election, officially granting Nalukoola the mandate to serve his constituency. His swearing-in complies with Article 81(4) of the Constitution, which requires newly elected MPs to take an oath before assuming their parliamentary duties.
Speaker Among noted that the delay in his swearing-in was due to the Electoral Commission’s late gazetting of the by-election results. With the matter now resolved, Nalukoola is set to fully engage in parliamentary affairs on behalf of the people of Kawempe North.
His entry into Parliament is expected to inject fresh momentum into the constituency, which has been a focal point of political discourse in Kampala. Residents anticipate his approach to addressing key challenges such as service delivery, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment.
Taking office at a significant moment, Nalukoola’s leadership and contributions in Parliament will be closely monitored by both his electorate and the broader political landscape.
