Unknown criminals have invaded the school quarter of Ayaka Primary School, in Ayaka central village, Ayaka Parish, Aka Sub county, Zombo District and set alight two semi permanent structures.
The motive of the purported gangbangers who orchestrated the criminal act last week is unclear.
Locals have appealed that Government construct a Parmanent structure at the school and guarantee Security in the area , that is near the restive Eastern DR Congo.
The LCIII chairperson of Aka Sub county Brian Oromcan, confirmed the incident, disclosing that many teachers are threatening to leave the school citing Security concerns
” the unknown criminals attacked Ayaka Primary School and set alight two huts in the middle of the night, we reported the matter to police and investigation is ongoing”Oromcan told this Publication in an interview.
He added ” we are worried because many teachers are threatening to leave the school saying their security is not guaranteed, we really need help from our security team”
Ayaka which is a government-aided primary school was established in the 1980s, and has an enrollment of over 1000 learners.
Francis Bolingo, the district Councillor of Athuma Sub county condemned the incident, calling for thorough investigation.
” We are so disappointed following the burning of structures in Ayaka Primary School, we call for serious investigation and we want the culprits to be arrested immediately” Bolingo stressed
The Zombo District chairperson Social services committee Sadiki Onencan said their office has not receive the information yet.
Last year, the chairperson land board Aka Sub county Micheal Ngamadhe, raised concerns about rampant land dispute cases involving community and institutions, calling for intervention across board.
Getting response from the district education department proved futile.
Recently, the Resident District Commissioner of Zombo Festus Ayikobua, called upon all LCI chairpersons across the district to be alert and Security conscious, citing the ongoing insecurity in Eastern DR Congo.
