Tragic! Top  Pakwach young stars fan  died  of heart attack  during a  football match

Hope Mungubitimu,  a  Pakwach Young Stars FC fan  collapsed and died on Tuesday evening, February 25, 2025, after watching her team lose to UPDF FC in a Uganda Cup Round of 32 match.

The game ended 0-0 in regular time, but UPDF won 8-7 on penalty shootouts , knocking out Pakwach Young Stars at their own tuff Bar Omac playground in Pakwach town council.

Witnesses say Mungubitimu, a senior two student of Pakwach Secondary School collapsed during the penalty  shootout and was rushed to Pakwach Mission Health center III, where she was pronounced dead shortly.

Pakwach Young Stars football Club  confirmed the incident on their official Facebook page , disclosing that the staunch fan died of a heart attack.

” On a very sad note we regret to announce the untimely death of Mungubitimu Hope,  a very staunch fan of ours who passed away this evening due to heart attack after our hotly contested football match with UPDF” the club’s statement in parts read.

The club acknowledged the pain the family is going through at the moment , adding that ” We continue to grieve with the family, may her soul rest in peace Till we meet again” 

Pakwach Secondary School Headteacher, Patrick Okecha, described the deceased as an “enthusiastic football supporter, who never exhibited any signs of illness “.

He regretted the tragic incident before condoling with the bereaved family in this trying moment.

Football fans across west Nile have been pouring their condolences following the tragic loss  of the female football fan.

However,  the LCI Chairman of Puvungu Jukaal Cell ,  Isaac Oucha Ovona Mandir also the  chief of Puvungu chiefdom, urged fans to support their teams with sportsmanship and welcome  any outcomes from football matches 

Pakwach young stars FC is currently plying it’s trade in the West Nile regional league’s Nyagak Zone.
