The Queen of West Nile Ms Patricia Jane Alobo, has fervently spoken out against youth’s rampant practice of disowning their places of origin, stressing the need for a mindset change.
She rallied youths to use the available resources and technology to ” take pride in the beauty and richness of our land”
The unflinching Alobo tore through many educated and exposed people, who she claims deliberately disown their places of origin, calling for change.
” when Alur from Zombo reach Kampala or other cities, they shy away from mentioning their specific villages, defaulting instead to Paidha as if it is the only remarkable place in our district. While Paidha is undeniably beautiful, it is not the sole jewel in Zombo’s crown” Alobo noted
In a similar vein, she underscored the value of boldly speaking about remarkable places like Zeu, Alangi, Abanga, Kaya, Nyapea, Akaa, Warr, Padea, Adhingi, Ajei, and Pakadha” noting that ” each of these areas has its unique charm, history, and beauty that deserve recognition”.
The practice of people, distancing self from their places of origin has been a subject of discussion amongst elders in Alur land, with many stressing the need for a mindset change.
“The elders are not happy with this trend of neglecting our roots, and rightfully so”, Alobo said in a statement, urging that ” This year, let us resolve to honor and elevate the identity of all our villages”
Alobo ascended to the throne of Queen of West Nile, upon beating her fellow contestants in Pakwach town council last week.
The lofty queen of West Nile is currently doing a spadework to graduate this year, with Bachelors of business administration and specialized in finance from Makerere university business school.
Last year, the King of Alur His Majesty Ubimu Phillip Rauni Ularker III, applauded his subjects living in Greater Entebbe in central Uganda, for sustaining unity of purpose and being good ambassadors of the kingdom.
