The Deputy Prime minister of Alur Kingdom Vincent Orach Ocaya, has appealed to Ugandan government to consider development of infrastructure like oil roads and other facilities in the Kingdom’s side of the Albertine region.
He made the remark during the Alur Kingdom’s December 6- 8th familiarization tour of oil and gas project operations in the Lake Albert Basin, organized by Uganda National Oil Company( UNOC).
Alur people form one of the biggest ethnic group in the entire Lake Albert Basin.
The Kingdom’s officials recognized as key cultural stakeholder, were toured in both Tilenga and Kingfisher petroleum development areas.
In a press release issued by the Director of Communication Alur Kingdom David Rupiny, the deputy prime minister Ochaya noted that the familiarization tour enabled them to confirm amongst others the readiness of oil production pads, storage of drilled crude oil, payment of royalties after commercial revenues start flowing.
“From what we saw and experienced, the oil and gas sector in Uganda is looking good and and a possible game changer in the socio- economic transformation of Uganda ” said Ochaya.
The tour was aimed at bringing cultural leaders up to speed with the progress of Tilenga and Kingfisher oil and gas development project.
The Kingdom’s Deputy Premier and executive director , Vincent Orach, led the delegation which comprised five chiefs from Jonam Pakwach District and two chiefs from Padyere in Nebbi District, the Kingdom’s cabinet ministers and other officials.
This tour according to the Kingdom underscored the pivotal unity between the Alur and Jonam People, as seven chiefs from both ethnic groups were in one accord.
Chiefs that joined the tour included Rwoth Jephta Oromcan Kerunega, Chief of Padwot Chiefdom, and Speaker Alur Kingdom’s Council of chiefs, Rwoth Opar Angiya Justine , Chief of Pawong Chiefdom, Rwoth Okwong Kasiano, Chief of Pangieth Chiefdom, Rwoth Ayikanying Alex, Chief of Alwi Puyang Chiefdom, Rwoth Onencan Sydney, Chief of Pacegu Chiefdom, Owachgiu Peter Athinda , Chief of Boro Chiefdom and Rwoth Oucha Isaac , Chief of Puvungu Chiefdom.
