80 year-old hit dead by  banyan tree

 An 80-year-old man,  has been hit dead by a banyan tree in his compound at Nguthe village, Afuda Parish, Jangokoro Sub-County Zombo District on November 4.

The Thursday 3:00 MP harrowing incident,  occured as the area was receiving  a heavy downpour couple with strong winds, that swayed a banyan tree with elaborate root system and lush canopy, hitting the deceased to death.

The deceased has been only identified as Wakunga, who local leaders say has been for long  staying alone in his home and lacked appropriate care.

The district councillor of Jangokoro Sub-County, David binen Arua,  confirmed the distressing  incident to this Publication, revealing that the incident was witnessed by a  primary school pupil, who was taking shelter under a house next to the deceased home.

” We were alerted by a primary kid who witnessed the tree being blown by strong wind when it was heavily raining here. We visited the scene together with Police from Jangokoro police post and indeed found that Muze Wakunga is dead, we retrieve the body and handed it to relatives” Arua confirmed.

The LCV chairperson of Zombo District alluded to the tragic incident, reaffirming that  “that is my uncle, he stay in Jangokoro near Alala primary school”
