UPDF  Land cruiser kills three in Zombo

A motor vehicle Land cruiser belonging to UPDF got involved in a fatal accident in Songoli Village Zeu sub-county Zombo district West Nile Region.

The incident happened at around 6:pm on September 7,2024.

Eye witnesses say the UPDF Land cruiser was from Warr-town council heading to Zeu trading center.

They added  that it had a head-on collision with a motorcycle carrying four people, leaving three dead on the spot. One person  who was   critically injured was  rushed to Zeu Health Centre III.

The identities of the deceased , injured victim and the driver was unclear by press  time.

The hair-raising  incident left residents   stunned and many  shared the videos of the dead bodies online.

The Deputy resident district commissioner Zombo Grace Atim, confirmed the incident , observing that the survivor was referred to Holy Family Nyapea hospital for management.

Meanwhile, by the time of filling the story,  police traffic in Zombo district couldn’t provide details as they were still documenting.

However, eye witnesses blamed  the driver of the land cruiser for reckless driving and  over speeding.

The driver was arrested by locals and handed over to Authorities at Zeu Police post.

In June , Traffic Police  published a damning report indicating that between the  week of June 23–29, 2024, 86 people died and  380 were critically  injured.
