The Speaker of Parliament Anita Anet Among, has today launched 97.3 Omoro Fm, a project earlier initiated by the late speaker Jacob Oulanya in fulfilment of his believe in the transformative power of strategic communication.
The launch took place on August 27, in Lalogi, Omoro District ahead of the first regional Parliamentary sitting in Gulu city
“Had the honour of launching Omoro FM, a dream initiated by my brother, Jacob Oulanyah, and now it is a reality. I want to thank Hon. Andrew Oulanyah for keeping Jacob’s legacy alive! ” Speaker Anita posted on her X immediately after the launch.
The speaker after the official launch ” urged the masses to embrace government welfare programs such as Emyooga and PDM, aimed at eradicating poverty”
The late speaker’s son Andrew Oulanyah who is the MP for Omoro county said “today, we proudly announce the official launch of Omoro FM, a brainchild of Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah(RIP) who believed in the transformative power of strategic communication”
According to a statement posted on Parliament watch , The Speaker who also laid a wreath to the former speakers tomb, held a private meeting with the late’s father, mzee Nathan Okori, who appealed to the Speaker to remind President Kaguta Museveni on his commitment to complete the house that Oulanyah was building before his demise.
The speaker and other delegates later proceeded to Gulu city and undertook a body of activities including donations and meetings amongst others.
The Parliament regional sittings that starts tomorrow August 28, has been met with a bevy of serious criticism including from some members of the Opposition and the general public.
