Oyam registers over 1325 new cases of HIV infection in the past three months.

This was revealed by Caroline Agaro who is the Assistant District Health Officer of Oyam District during a two days health sector performance review meeting held at Rainbow hotel in oyam town council.

According to Agaro they are experiencing high rate of new HIV infections where most people are going through live sex which risk the spread of disease more especially among adolescent from 15-25 years therefore she advised those who are on treatment to continue taking their medicines as it is prescribed to curve down the spread this deadly disease.

Agaro identified some new hot spots areas in Oyam district that are leading in new HIV infections including;Loro sub county with 160 new cases followed by Aber sub-county with 135,kamdini sub-county 134,Acaba, 115,Iceme sub-county 110,Ngai 98,Myene 91,Aleka 88,Otwal 85,minakulu sub-county 59,kamdini town council 53,minakulu town council 50,Abok sub-county 41,Loro town-council 39 ,oyam town council 36 and Iceme town council with 31 new cases of HIv infections.

she further said most people reports and pitch camp in such Sub-Counties a day before marketĀ  to carry out trade, drinking and having sex and worst of it all they always play unprotected sex leading to high spread of HIV infections.

Conclusively, Agaro called upon people surrounded such trading centers to use protective gear in order to prevent the spread of Hiv/AIDS.

However Christ Ongom, the vice chairperson local council five oyam district in his remark appeal to parent to be vigilant enough on their children in order to prevent them from getting Hiv/AIDS and early marriages.

During reactions Francis Angor the Lc3 Chairperson of Aber Sub County and Clement Otim who is one of the senior assistant secretaries had this to say.
