“Kawalya Abubaker – Nakulabye Parish Football Tournament” commence

Sports: Preparations for the “Kawalya Abubaker – Nakulabye Parish Football Tournament” commence, aiming at providing a platform for identifying and uplifting young talents.

Organized by Rubaga North legislator, Hon. (Hajji) Abubaker Kawalya, the “Kawalya Abubaker – Nakulabye Parish Football Tournament” promise to be a spectacle of unity and athleticism, bringing together the diverse communities of Lubaga North in spirited competition.

Speaking to Whisper Eye News, Mr. Atwine Ivan “Ogutafa” the Organizing Committee Chairperson emphasized the importance of the sports tournaments, hailing Hon. Kawalya Abubaker for his continued support towards the cause.

“Firstly, sports tournaments serve as a platform for fostering unity and solidarity among oppressed communities. Regardless of background or ideology, individuals can come together under the banner of sportsmanship, forming bonds that transcend social, political, and ethnic divides. This unity is crucial in building a cohesive movement capable of challenging oppressive regimes.”

From rallying the community to providing invaluable resources, your dedication makes difference. Thank you for helping us kick off this event with such momentum!” Atwine emphasized.

The MP who also doubles as Vice Chairman Public Accounts Committee (Local Government) parliamentary committee initiated the “Kawalya Abubaker Football Tournament” which rotates from parish to parish in Rubaga North Constituency; the five parishes of Lubya, Kasubi, Lungujja, Namirembe-Bakuli and Nakulabye and over time, it has nurtured rising talents, equipped teams with football gears, galvanized communities and ignited a sense of unity.

An organizing committee has been elected today and promised to release the roadmap next week.

Hajji Abubaker Kawalya is a sportsman who loves football and has always stood around to support big events, inclusive of his party’s (National Unity Platform) foot-soldiers football tournament editions. Last week, Hon. Kawalya was awarded a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by NUP’s Principal Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) for his support towards the tournament’s editions.

Kawalya’s love for football and sports has seen him a tactic and strong team player for Uganda’s 11th Parliament football team.
