The senior presidential advisor on Industry hon Amelia Ann Kyambadde has organized skilling training for over 250 youths in Kiringente sub County, Mpigi in an attempt to reduce youth unemployment.

The training was organised at Our Lady of Consolation Katende Catholic Parish, Mpigi together with MTAC. Hon Amelia said that the youth should have something they can produce and sell to get money.

“Completing formal education at school, and you can’t produce anything will not help us. It’s high time we got something we can produce improve it with time and compete on the market to earn,” says Hon Amelia.

Youths were trained in five enterprises, making liquid soap, herbal jelly, reusable sanitary pads, Ugandan daddies, and hair shampoo.

The youth chaplain of Katende Parish Rev. Fr Peter Masaba Woniara applauded Hon Amelia Kyambadde for the program.

Fr Masaba supervised the training to make sure that the youths benefit from the training to attain its intention in a fight against youth unemployment.

Youths from Katende Parish through their sports secretary for the parish, Mr Galiwango Charles had requested help from Hon Amelia Kyambadde in sports, however, she advised them to first find means of earning money thus offering the skilling program, and a percentage of profits from the sales can be used to support the sports sector.

The training was conducted by experienced facilitators from the Management Training and Advisory Centre (MTAC).
