Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye, two prominent figures in Ugandan opposition politics, are set to resume separate country-wide political tours across the country as 2026 gears up. #WhisperEyeNews
The decision to embark on different individual political tours comes after previous joint efforts and reflects their respective strategies for engaging with citizens and mobilizing support ahead of 2026 national elections.
Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), and Kizza Besigye, the former Uganda presidential candidate and leader of the People’s Government, have each announced plans to tour various regions of Uganda.
These tours serve as opportunities for both leaders to connect with Ugandans on the ground, listen to their concerns, and rally support for their political agendas.
Kizza Besigye together with the embattled FDC Katonga group moving around the country consulted with its supporters on whether to form a new political party after various leaders distanced self with FDC leaders based at Najjjanakumbi.
Kizza Besigye visited Busoga last week where he was welcomed by hundreds of his supporters, this week according to Katonga, he will visit Mbarara, Kabale Rukungiri, Bushenyi and Kasese.
Bobi Wine will visit Masaka amidst clashes with his suspended deputy President Hon Mathias Mpuuga
With Uganda facing significant socio-political challenges, including governance, human rights, and economic development, Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye aim to address these pressing issues directly by engaging with citizens.
By travelling across the country, they hope to amplify the voices of ordinary Ugandans and advocate for change on their behalf.
While Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye have collaborated in the past on joint political initiatives, their decision to pursue separate tours reflects the diversity of perspectives within the opposition movement.
Each leader brings their unique approach and vision for Uganda’s future, and their tours allow them to tailor their messages to specific audiences and regions.
As they hit the road once again, Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye are calling on Ugandans from all walks of life to join them in their efforts to bring about positive change.
Their country-wide political tours serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for democracy, justice, and equality in Uganda, and the crucial role that citizens play in shaping the country’s future.
