Kyanja High School are Mpigi district USSA football champions 2024

Kyanja High School, Mpigi won the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSA) football tournament in the Mpigi district after defeating the defending champions of Mpigi district Mpigi Mixed Secondary School 4-3 (penalties) after the 90 minutes ended in a goalless draw.

Kyanja High School Mpigi qualified to play in the district finals as Kammengo zone champions, the tournament has 20 teams.

In their final game with Mpigi Mixed Secondary School, Mpigi, Kyanja High played a very impressive football passing and attacking but failed to block the deadlock in the 90 minutes thus pushing the defending champions into the penalty shout-out.

Mr Kawuki Peter ‘Awakulaennume’

Kyanja High School scored all the first four penalties scored by Matovu Akram, Asuman Kirya, Ssenfuka Mahad and Ddumba Jovan. The goalkeeper David saved two penalties for Mpigi Mixed Secondary School.

The tournament was sponsored by the team Manager of Buwama United FC Mr Kawuki Peter ‘Awakulaennume’ who vowed to develop the talents of the youths in the Mpigi district especially in sports.

Mr Kawuki bought sports equipment including footballs, medals and trophies worthy of millions of Uganda shillings.
