Ray of hope as cooperaid extend support to Zombo education sector

The Zombo District   based CBO life Concern, implementing a three year project aiming at ensuring improved academic excellence and retention of learners in schools has revealed that , social amenities are a big threat to learners and health of people.

The project code named “winning with education” ( Alochi kusomo) is funded by a Switzerland based non governmental organization Cooperaid at a tune of shs 4.6 billion . 

Through this innitiative a number of schools have so far benefited from the project and now community and stakeholders are seeing ray of hope for future education of their children.

The project has supported construction of classrooms, building capacity of teachers and directors, motivating exceptional teachers and directors, supporting and promoting athletics in both community and schools and supporting climate change mitigation through planting trees.

Speaking to the stakeholders recently during the awarding ceremony of the outstanding teachers and directors at Cream land Motel in Paidha Town Council, The executive director life concern , Emmy Kizito Kakura made a loud call to regulating social amenities to secure the future of learners.

” I urge all the stakeholders to regulate social amenities otherwise we are playing our efforts to the retention of learners in school for nothing ” Kakura emphasized

Mean while in their submission, the stakeholders Commended Cooperaid and pleaded for more funding to support the primary education in Zombo District.

The District is still lagging behind in the country with high rate of school drop out as few  pupils complete primary education cycle.

The Zombo District LCV chairperson James Oruna Oyullu praised  life concern for the commendable job in retaining learners in school for the past two years testifying that atleast, the district has realized their great contribution.

” This is a good job on behalf of the District and I encourage life concern to continue lobbying to support education in Zombo District” Oyullu observed

Grace Atim, The deputy Resident District Comissioner,  has equally acknowledged that their is an improvement in education when Cooperaid extended fund to support education of pupils in the district.

” Life concern go and knock the door from the funders to support education in Zombo District” Atim said in her closing remark.

Alex Susu, The School Director ( Headteacher) Oturgang Boys Primary School who  emerged the best this year was motivated with  Shs 2 million for his outstanding performance whilst 10 teachers from various schools were also motivated with Shs 1.5 million each for their outstanding creativity in teaching.

In his speech Susu said this is the first time he is  being recognized for the exceptional performance.

” This is a real foundation of motivation and I urged teachers to love their profession” Susu happily said
