Shock as Nebbi Man killed and stuffed in a polythene bag

By Mike Rwothomio and Lee Ofoymungu

Residents of Jupangira Sub-county in Nebbi district are reeling in shock after the gruesome discovery of a dismembered body stuffed inside a polythene bag and hung on a tree in a nearby bush at Ubia village, Pawong Parish.

The unidentified victim’s body, already decomposing, was found by a local resident yesterday evening, prompting swift action from authorities.

According to Colins Uweki Jakernga, the LC1 Chairperson of Ubia Village Pawong Parish, the discovery was made by a concerned resident who immediately alerted local leaders.

“We received the information from one of our residents who found the body inside a polythene bag hanging on a tree. We informed the police from Goli one stop border point custom who immediately came here,” Jakernga shared with Whisper Eye News.

The identity of the victim remains unknown, with indications suggesting that he may not be from the local area. Local authorities suspect foul play, citing torture marks found on the victim’s head and neck.

LC3 chairperson of Jupangira sub-county, Sunday Dominick Ogenmungu, expressed concerns that the victim might have been murdered elsewhere and disposed of in the area.

The community gather at the crime scene in total shock.

“We alerted police from Nebbi Central Police Station, who rushed to the crime scene, picked up the body, and conveyed it for autopsy to Nebbi General Hospital as investigations commence,” Ogenmungu stated.

This incident follows a similar one in December last year in Nyaravur-Angal Town Council, Nebbi District, where the body of a 38-year-old male adult, identified as Victor Okello, was reportedly found dumped in a garden after being killed by unknown assailants.

The circumstances surrounding both cases remain under investigation as authorities seek to bring the perpetrators to justice.
